A ’79 CJ Brought Andy Goodall to the Jeep® Brand

There’s always something special about your first vehicle.  For most people, it opens up a new world of freedom that serves as the welcome party for a new chapter in your life.  That’s especially true with Australian Andy Goodall.  His first vehicle was a ’79 CJ that he still has to this day.

“Back in the early 90’s I was going to buy my first car. All I wanted was a Jeep [4x4], so I saved and saved and saved.  Jeep® [vehicles] were scarce, but I eventually found a golden brown 79 model.  When I first saw it, the owner had taken it away to be cleaned and forgot to latch the bonnet back on.  It flew up and bent itself over the windscreen, so that was how I first saw it.  He fixed it, I bought it and haven’t had the heart to sell it since then.”

But that was just the beginning.

“I got a fiancé and she wanted to buy a new car, so we looked at a lot of boring sensible unfun cars. She said “What do you want?” and I answered, “Another Jeep.” So we got a TJ 2006 model. It didn’t come with half doors, so I imported them to Australia and had them sprayed. They look great. I no longer have the fiancé but I’ve still got the two Jeeps.”

What can we say, Andy? Jeep brand love is forever.
