Dodge Durango and Journey – Most Improved for 2011!

By Redline- The Official Blog of Dodge

10best_110516-durango_grid-4x2_comp-550x179

As we pass the halfway point of Summer, things are heating up at Dodge. Recently the folks at MSNBC.com came out with their ten most improved cars for 2011 and our new Durango and Journey were on the list. The editors recognized our newly redesigned interiors that are refined and comfortable. They also acknowledged our award winning fuel efficient 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine that makes more power and gets better gas mileage than the previous power plants.

According to Dan Carney, the automotive editor for MSNBC.com, “The new Durango is built on a new unibody chassis shared with the Mercedes-Benz M-Class and R-Class crossover SUVs and it is outfitted with either the company’s new 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine or the latest version of the company’s heralded Hemi V8, with cylinder deactivation for better gas mileage when cruising on the highway. Mercedes’ ride and Hemi power? That’s a tough-to-beat combination.”

When it came time for him to get behind the wheel of the Journey, he was also taken a back over numerous improvements and enhancements made on the 2011 model. “…the 2011 Journey was the recipient of the company’s most lavish makeover, with a positively opulent interior that welcomes customers inside. Under the hood it also gets the new 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, with its accompanying improvements in power, smoothness and efficiency.”

Armand, thank you very much for writing such a fantastic review. Keep up the great work Guy!

"If I could give Guy a 10 I would honestly has been one of the best sales men (not just car sales) I have ever had to deal with"- Armand G.

Outfitting Your Jeep® Vehicle 101: Snorkels

Posted on Friday, July 22, 2011 at 11:54 am by Alan and Jackie Ellis in Adventures, Community, Models

Have you ever seen a Jeep® 4×4 with a long pipe sticking out over the hood and wondered why anyone would put a smoke stack on it?  In this installment of Outfitting Your Jeep Vehicle 101, we’re going to help answer the question:   “What is a snorkel?”

As you can see in the photo, this pipe-looking fixture runs from the air intake under the hood and extends upward near the passenger side of the vehicle.  It typically extends well above the hood and can sometimes be as tall as the roof.  That long pipe is actually a snorkel, and is a modification for 4×4 enthusiasts who want their vehicle to get cool, dry, clean air into their engine while off-roading.   Although some people think they look odd on a vehicle, serious off-roaders know that a snorkel can be a valuable addition when off-roading in dusty terrain or where there are deep water crossings.

A snorkel’s primary use is to allow for cool, dry, clean air to enter into the engine.  The snorkel can help prevent water or dirt from entering an engine.  Cooler air into the engine can increase its horsepower, improve your engine’s performance, and will help to increase the longevity of your vehicle.   The snorkel allows you to keep your air intake clear of water and mud during deep stream or river crossings.  On dusty trails, the high position of the snorkel helps to prevent road dirt and dust from being sucked into your engine.    A snorkel is not a requirement if you want to off-road your Jeep 4×4, but this modification is just one of many that can improve your vehicle’s performance or protect it. Snorkels are available for a wide variety of Jeep brand vehicles including the Grand Cherokee and Liberty.

by Mike Driehorst

Noted for "exceptional performance, efficiency, features, options and appeal," NADAguides named the 2011 Chrysler 300 its Car of the Month for July.

"The Chrysler 300 has made the leap from stylish to luxurious with chrome accents, LED lights, ambient lighting and much more....above and beyond your typical feature set,” said Troy Snyder —Director of Product Development, NADAguides.

Among the features Snyder highlighted are the 300's heated and cooled cup holders, power rear sun shade, blind-spot monitoring, Uconnect Touch system and rear heated seats and steering wheel. Another plus for the Chrysler 300 is that it is an IIHS Top Safety Pick.

"The NADAguides analysts know that this isn’t the car for just anyone, but more specifically for those looking for a proven sedan with luxury features and sharp design elements; the 2011 Chrysler 300 is the perfect combination," he added.
